going to Japan

I was given an award from AFS-USA, with a job:  escort nineteen high-school students from Los Angeles to Japan, where they would begin a month's cultural and language exchange.  We decided to take the opportunity to visit Hikari Kan (who we hosted the year before), her family, and Japan.

The trip to Tokyo was long and uneventful, but I did help students with customs and immigration forms.  Noralynn took a separate flight from Chicago, and met me in Tokyo.

Hikari and her mother met us at the airport, and we went to their home to fight jet lag (13 hours off of Michigan).
