Hannover

We took a day's stroll around Hannover, where we've been staying with family. First stop was the Marketchurch, in north-German brick Gothic style.  We wandered along the Leine river to the Rathaus, which had the Lions of Hannover guarding the front.

Inside were city dioramas, from the original founding, through the war, and up to the present.

Outside, a wedding was finishing.  This helped explain the huge collections of locks on the bridge:  they're left by happy couples trying to insure their marriages.  We took the metro from the Waterloo station (not London!) to the main train station, where we had lunch,  admired the wurst, and then returned home.
