
The weather was warming as we pilgrims approached Mont Ste. Michel, but there was also fog, and a welcome sea breeze. The village on the lower reaches of the island was packed; lots of others had the same idea about visiting on such a nice day. Estelle had packed sandwiches and drinks, which we enjoyed on a terrace after a hike up worn stone stairs.

Even with the crush of tourists, it was possible to find islands of quiet to enjoy the beauty of the monastery. I couldn't stop taking pictures; I'll let them tell the story for a while.

Chloe's boyfriend Nick (also from Michigan) was also visiting. We took this group photo in the old dining hall, then had a snack before driving home.
